Marie Corcoran Memorial: The Marie Corcoran Memorial takes place this weekend. Marie was a great supporter of ladies football and all things GAA until her untimely passing in 2015. Please come along and join Marie’s family and friends on Saturday 7th at 6:30pm with a fun game v. St. Brigids at the pitch. On Sunday the 8th, April there is a cycle at 10:30am and a 6k walk/run starting from Knockcroghery Community Center at 3pm. Registration from 1.30pm, donations €10 with all proceeds going to Palliative Care Services Roscommon University hospital.
Lifetime Achievement Award: At this year’s Annual Dinner Dance, on April 27th in the Hodson Bay Hotel, St. Dominic’s will be presenting an award to an individual for his / her lifetime contribution to our club. Nominations for this award must be e-mailed to the Dinner Dance Committee Chairperson, Paul Gillespie at paulgillespie@buseireann.ie or by calling him on (087) 6875582. A text message is not sufficient. There are three pieces of information required: the nominee, reasons for the nomination and the nominator. The closing date for nominations is Friday, April 13th 2018.
Senior Hurling: Well done to The Claypipe sponsored senior hurlers who got their league off to a great start on Saturday evening, 31st March, with a win against Oran. It finished 3-16 to 3-10. John Murray got 1-6 from play and frees, two great goals from Cormac Miley and Tommy Doyle. Team was as follows: Dec Dowling, Robbie Byrne, Fergal Hoare, Noel Moran, Ciaran Hunt, Anthony O’Riordan, Michael Byrne, Ronan Kilcline, Sean Naughton, Tommy Doyle 1-1, M.J. Egan, John Murray 1-6, Cormac Miley 1-2, Martin Beirne and Patrick Quigley. Training on Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm. League game next Sunday, 8th April v Four Roads at home, to be confirmed.
Senior Football: Division 4 Junior team were away to Tulsk on Friday 30th March at 5:30pm, with Tulsk coming out on top 3-8 to 0-10. Next game scheduled are the Seniors in the Tansey Cup away to Kilbride n Saturday 7th April, at 6pm. All support welcome.
Ladies Football: The U-12 league sees our ladies at home to Four Roads at 6pm on Monday, 2nd April. Next Sunday, 8th April, our Junior ladies are at home to Oran, throw in at 11am. Ladies football encourage you all to support the Marie Corcoran Memorial Trust Fund next weekend. As we prepare for the upcoming ladies football season we would like to appeal to our parents, guardians and Club members to help out with all age groups in Ladies football. No experience necessary and full support will be given, a little goes a long way.
Camogie: As the camogie season kicks back into gear, training will be returning for all age groups shortly. U-14: Our U-14s have already started back training under the watchful eyes of Kevin Rogers and Liam Murray, currently they are training on Thursday evenings at 7pm at the pitch. Junior and Senior Camogie: Our Hudson Bay Hotel sponsored adult team are also training on Monday evenings at 8pm in St Johns FC Astroturf, please contact John Haughey on 087 379 1963 for further details. Minor Hurling: Training is up and running for all our age groups and new players always welcome. Our U-10 hurlers continue to train each Sunday morning at 10am at Knockcroghery National School astro pitch. The U-12 boys train every Monday at 6pm at St. Johns astro turf, please bring €1 to assist with the costs. The U-14, U-16, and U-17 age groups continue to train with texts sent out as usual. On Saturday, 31st March our U-14 hurlers were at home to Oran and won on a scoreline of 6- 12(30) to 7-07(28). St. Dominics had a large panel on the day so it was good to see all the subs getting game time. They play their outstanding fixture against Athleague/ Tremane on Wednesday, 4th April, venue and time to be confirmed.
Minor Football: The U-14 team had their second outing on Saturday 24th March at home v St Croan’s. It was a tough game but the U-14 boys had a comprehensive win over the opposition at the final whistle. U-8 and U-10 training continues on Saturday at the pitch from 4.30pm – 5.30pm. All players have to be registered to play. If you have any queries on this please ask any of our mentors present on the day. Well don to the U-10 team who played at half time at Sunday’s league match versus Cork in Hyde Park..
Mothers and Others: After a very successful inaugural season St. Dominics Mothers and Others are getting ready to take to the pitch again. Feedback from the ladies is extremely positive, the Gaelic football for Mothers and Others proved to be so much more than the football. The ladies forged new friendships and who knew getting fit could be such fun! The only requirements are you must be registered with St. Dominics, over 18 and not playing competitive football.
