Senior Football: A meeting of the Senior Football Club takes place this Tuesday night 7th June at 9pm in the meeting room. All welcome. O’Gara Cup: St. Dominics 0-12; Tulsk 1-11. St. Dominics lost out by two points in this keenly contested affair against a strong St. Croans side in Knockcroghery on Thursday evening last. The Ballintubber men started well and scored two early points before Dominics found their feet. Then, points from Conor Fallon (2) and Ultan Kelly had Dominics ahead by the 15th minute. St. Croans got through for a well worked goal and added two further points before Conor Fallon raised a white flag from a free for the home side. St. Croans held the upper hand until the break adding three further points to which Dominics replied with points from C. Fallon and Tom Gately to leave it 1-6 to 0-6 at the break. St. Dominics played some great football early in the second half and points from Ollie Milton (2), Ultan Kelly and Conor Fallon (2) edged Dominics ahead 0-11 to 1-7 after 40 minutes. St. Dominics lost their shape at this stage despite having an extra man and Croans added four unanswered points to lead by three. A late C. Fallon free was too little too late to rescue a game that could have been won. St. Dominics: – M. Miley, P. Carney, A. Naughton, R. Byrne, M. Grady, P. Fallon, T. Gately (0-1), S. Farrell, M. Finneran, U. Kelly (0-2, 1 free), C. Fallon (0-7, 6 frees), E McCormack, O. Milton (0-2), N. Connaughton, T. Hurley.

Camogie: Our Hodson Bay sponsored Senior team continue training at the usual times, please keep an eye on text messages. Championship commences later this month. U16: Our U16 team have started training under the guidance of Noel and Caoilfhionn on Monday evenings between 7pm and 8pm. All players new and old are more than welcome. Best of luck for the season ahead. U14: On Tuesday, 31st May, our U14 girls took on Athleague in Round 4 of the league in Athleague. In what was a lovely sunny evening the girls played out a very competitive and exciting match in perfect conditions. Both teams were missing players due to illness and exams which meant that the game was 13 a side which in many ways added to the openness and quality of play. St. Dominic’s started the game very well and dominated the opening half for long periods. We went ahead after five minutes through an excellently hand passed goal from Evelyn Kilcline. This was followed up a few minutes later with a second goal which was well taken through a ground stroke from Kate O’Brien who did very well to recognise the brief opportunity she had. We continued to dominate the half as our midfield and half forwards continued to win ball and let it in long and early to our full forward line who were well on top of their opponents. During this period Evelyn Kilcline again got behind their full back before being denied a second goal by Athleague’s goalkeeper who saved excellently by deflecting the shot over the bar for a point. Athleague rallied towards the end of the half and were rewarded with a well taken point from play leaving the half time score at 2-1 to 0-1 to St. Dominic’s. The second half was a very even affair with the game ebbing and flowing throughout. Our midfield continued to be on top but Athleague grew in confidence by going long and carrying the ball effectively in equal measure. They were finally rewarded through two goals from placed balls. This left the game level with about five minutes still remaining. Our girls rallied at this point and went on the attack. We got the score we needed through a well taken point from play by half forward Niamh Cuttle. There was still time on the clock though and our girls showed great commitment and determination to see out the game and secure the well-deserved win. Everyone played well on the night but special mention must go to captain Ciara Roddy, the tireless Laois Mahon and Anna Campbell in midfield and the energetic Niamh Fitzgerald at centre forward who looks to be returning to her best after injury. Well done to all on the night. The final round of this competition is next Tuesday, 7th June, against Roscommon Gaels at 7pm in Knockroghery. This is now effectively a semi-final, all support is welcome. Training continues on Thursday at 6pm and our selection policy remains in place. The team lines out as follows. 1. Ellen Cafferkey, 2. Katie Lohan, 3. Tara Murphy, 4. Natasha Keenan, 5. Ali Campbell, 6. Ciara Roddy, 7. Anna Campbell, 8. Laoise Mahon, 9. Ina Van Opstal, 10. Niamh Fitzgerald, 11. Niamh Cuttle, 12. Kate O Brien, 13. Evelyn Kilcline. U12: Our U12 girls will have their first outing of the season on Monday 6th June in Pearse Stadium, Galway. This is the Caman to Connacht blitz. On the day they will play Sylane and Castlegar of Galway and Westport of Mayo. If the girls are lucky enough they may get the chance to go to Croke park later in the year and play there. Best of luck to Edelle, Joanne and Kevin on the day and for the season ahead. U8/U10:
