Senior Football: O’Gara Football League: Dominics gained two more valuable O’Gara Cup points when they defeated Clan na Gael on Sunday last in Johnstown on a scoreline of 2-13 to 0-14. The first 20 min belonged to Dominics, holding the upper hand thanks to an Ollie Milton goal and with Michael Finneran and Ciaran Hunt winning midfield. However Clan finished the half well scoring 4 points to leave it 1-6 to 0-8 at the break. Two early second points from Clan were cancelled out by a goal and point from Milton and points from C Fallon, U Kelly and K O Beirne and Dominics were comfortable winners in the end. Senior Hurling: Our senior hurlers play Oran in the first round of the seniorhurling championship this Sunday in Woodmount. Please check fixtures for times. The lads have been training hard over the last few weeks and are in good form heading into the game. The club wishes Damian Fallon and his team all the best for the championship. Camogie: U8 and U10 training continues on Thursday evenings at 7pm on the back pitch. The next U8 blitz will be held this Friday, 10th of July in Four Roads. The next U10 blitz is on the 24th July in Four Roads. Spare hurls and helmets are available from the club for those who wish to try out camogie for a few sessions before buying their own. Training continues for U12’s on Monday evenings at 5.30pm. Their first league game is due to be played next Monday, 13th July against Oran, please note change of date. Congratulations to our Junior team and their management who enjoyed a great win over Oran in the championship last week. Both teams enjoyed good wins in their first matches of this championship and were hoping to build on this momentum in Rockfield last Tuesday. This was a tough, physical game but the determination displayed by the Dominic’s girls never faltered. The Knockcroghery girls scored a number of points from play early in the first half which saw them start to pull ahead. Rachel Dolan hit the back of the net after a great pass from Caroline Dowling and Dominic’s were 1-4 to 0-2 ahead at half-time. They continued to add to the score-board throughout the second half and Oran were unable to match their scores. The final whistle blew with Dominic’s running out as deserving winners. Final score: St. Dominic’s 1-9 Oran 0-5. Thank you to the supporters who attended the match. Ladies Football: St. Dominic’s u8 and u10 ladies play their first series of games next Tuesday 7th of July against St. Brigid’s in Kiltoom. The two games (u8 v u8 and u10 v u10) will be played at the same time, starting at 7pm. Please come along and cheer on our stars of the future. U12 ladies continue to train Tuesday from 6.30 to 7.30pm and Thursday from 6 to 7pm. Congratulations to St. Dominic’s footballers Eimear McNally, Aoife Gavin, Ciara Corcoran and the Roscommon u16 ladies on their Connacht Final win over Leitrim on Wednesday evening last. Well done all, next up is Cavan in the All Ireland Semi Final on Wednesday 15th July. Training continues Tuesday evening from 7pm to 8pm for our Roscommon Leisure Zone sponsored Minor and Junior ladies panels.
Minor Hurling. Boys u18/u10 hurling workshop for all underage coaches and parents will be held on Thursday 9th July at 7pm in St. Dominics pitch.
Summer Camp. St. Dominics will host a GAA Kellogg’s Cúl Camp on the week of Monday 13th to Friday 17th of July. This will be for both hurlingand football as well as other fun games and activities.
