Camogie: Our minor team travelled to Tulsk on Sunday morning and recorded a good victory over the home team. Next up is a home game against Four Roads on Saturday the 8th October at 11am. Best of luck to the team and management. The U16 team will play Four Roads in the County U16B final on Tuesday evening, 4th October, at 7:30pm in Ballyforan. Noel and Caoilfhionn have put a lot of work into the team and we wish them the very best of luck on Tuesday. All support would be greatly appreciated. Last Sunday, the Sinead Beirne tournament was held. This was the 14th year of the tournament and the Camogie club thank the Beirne family for their generous patronage. The winning team was captained by Katie Lohan and also included Lily Murray, Iona Hanley, Katie O’Connor, Eve Connaughton, Michelle Rogers, Hope Sherwin, Sarah Kilcline and Jessica Dolan. A great afternoon of camogie was had by all between the rain showers. This finishes up the season for the U8s, U10s and U12s. The club would like to thank all the girls for their huge effort over the year and also to the parents for helping out and bringing the girls to training and matches. The numbers playing Camogie in the club have increased again this year and the club would like to place on record our thanks for all those that helped with training during the year. Keep practicing over the winter and we will see you all again next year.
Ladies Football: The end of September sees the finish of a very good season for St. Dominic’s Ladies Football. We will have a fun filled get-together in a couple of weeks to round off the year. Sincere thanks to all our trainers and mentors for their dedication and commitment during the year and for making training a positive and fun experience for all. Thanks to all the parents, grandparents, family and friends who as always are on hand to help out. Our games would not flourish without your support, long may it continue. Most importantly thanks to all the little ladies, and not so little, for taking part in ladies football, we look forward to seeing you all next season. Date for your diary folks! Next weekend sees the inaugural Marie Corcoran Memorial Fundraiser, it kicks off on Friday 7th of October at Ned’s bar Knockcroghery with a 25 progressive card game at 9pm sharp €10 entry. Saturday 8th October sees a fun game of Gaelic between St. Dominic’s and St. Brigid’s at 4.30pm. It concludes Sunday 9th October with Marie’s Memorial 5k/10k walk/run/cycle at 3pm registration at the Knockcroghery Community Center at 2pm. €10 entry, children free! All proceeds donated will go to Roscommon Cancer Support group, Vita House Roscommon. Your support or donations are gratefully appreciated.
