Senior Football: O’Gara Cup: St. Dominics 0-13 Castlerea 0-11. St. Dominics were deserving winners over Castlerea on Sunday last, 23rd April, in Castlerea. Playing with the aid of a slight breeze Dominics moved the Ball with speed and precision and early points from Man of the Match, Ultan Kelly and a pointed free from Conor Fallon had them 0-3 to 0-1 up after six minutes with the Castlerea point coming from a Ger Heneghan free. Castlerea responded with points from Christy Dineen (2) and Fintan Kelly but Dominics were dominant and further points from Ultan Kelly (2) Tom Gately and Conor Fallon had it 0-7 to 0-4 after 25 minutes. Two late Castlerea first half points from Sean Ryan and Christy Dineen had it 0-7 to 0-6 for Dominics at the break. Ger Heneghan levelled matters with a free just after the break but then Dominics hit a purple patch and great scores from Conor Fallon (3), Ultan Kelly and Tommy Hurley made it 0-12 to 0-7 by the 47th minute. Dominics Manager Malachy Gately won’t be happy with his players taking the foot off the gas for the final 10 minutes and this allowed Castlerea to close the gap to a single point with points from Ger Heneghan (2) Christy Dineen, and Sean Ryan. Conor Fallon got the insurance point for Dominics in the 60th minute to move Dominics to second place in the table.
